Our 5th year anniversary held 4 days ago at connect 802.
Finally have sometime to pen down my thoughts.
This ministry taught me that starting up a whole new ministry needs guidance and confirmation from the Lord.
Louis and Shuhui prayed for 1 whole year in 2009, and finally start up the geylang women outreach ministry in 2010 till today.
Joseph Chean mentioned that when YWAM was built in geylang, near the red light district, he knows that is what Jesus would want them to do, reaching out to the ladies, but he felt it was too difficult.
I guess I can understand...
I know how it was to be hopeless, even as a Christian, I was once depressed and seemingly lost all hope, and all light distinguishes before me...
But God reveal to me of my identity, calling me beautiful, and said that there is hope in Jesus. I know what it is to be loved by God, do they?
However, as what Joseph Chean mentioned, the ladies there are too used to being hopeless. To them, hopeless is a norm. They have collaborated with the business ministries out there, who are willing to offer a job with a rather good pay, so that they wouldn't have to work at the streets..
But within few weeks, they stopped appearing.. It has nothing to do with the job... Is just that they are not motivated... they choose and would rather stay in the hopeless state. Hopeless is a norm to them, and it just ache my heart to know this.
Furthermore, their social circle encouraged them to work at the streets.
One of them shared.." You are a prostitute, even if you quit now, you are still a prostitute."
Such comments and lies sinks deep into them and is almost impossible for them to get out.
But nothing is impossible for God.
The sharing went on and Joseph explained what it means to love mercy.
Micah 6:8
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
Despite what they done to us, the man and the women, by loving mercy, we are able to extend forgiveness quickly and offer help and second chances, regardless how many times they failed us or gave up on themselves.
Just like Jesus Christ, that gave us what we do not deserve, and always gave us second chances, and never give up even when we already give up on ourselves.
What is good news to them?
Good news to them... having a roof over their head? having to meet their basic needs? having someone to talk to and to love them?
Learnt to love like Jesus did, meet their needs first, and slowly bring the gospel in.
There were many times I just felt like shouting to them, Jesus Loves You!!!! Ye Shu Ai Ni!!! Ni Zhi Dao Mah?
When me, feeling so heart broken, sometimes I wonder how Jesus felt when he's there, right beside me, seeing the things I see, he must have feel it much more than me.
Lord, I know you so well in the church. But I wanna know you even more when I'm out there doing your work. You know them by name. I prayed that the church will be ready to receive people of different background.
Am not a mum yet, but when I imagined it is my own daughter out there, I would go relentlessly for them, to tell them that there is hope in the name of Jesus.
Jesus is not to be kept in church, it is those places that need the love of God and prayers even more. I no longer just wanna be comfortable in my church, to know how he is like in church or at home. But to know how You are like out there, among the broken hearted, and bring them in.
"The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them."
The lord confides... There is something that's bothering God, that he depressed about. I wish to be the one that God confides in, waking me up in the middle of the night, telling me how he feels about the world, showing me his heart, and I pray that i will not doubt, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. Being a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
That immerse joy one person felt after receiving Christ, such joy cannot be found in any other things of the world. Lord, I pray that more and more will come and know you.
I'll do my best as your co-worker in Christ.
