It is the who and why that matters
Recently heard from a friend’s sharing about the thought collective’s take on connection.
A point that was mentioned was, people usually care about the who and the why of the leaders, while leaders often spend time on the how and the what.
“How to achieve greater heights as a group?”
“What should be the next direction?”
“What to do?”
“How to see this vision come to pass?”
As much as the how to achieve something, and what to do is important, the who you are, and why do you care as a leader matters to the people who are following.
Who are you really in reality behind all that you bring forth to your people? Are you sharing your authentic story of being in the gap? The gap between the person we want to be, being more Christ like, and the person we are in reality.
And why? Why do you care about your vision? Why do lives matter to you? Why do you care for your people? These are what matters to people on the ground..
Papa God, I should have known what I’ve signed up for. I pray for a willing heart in me, not to grumble but to be willing to be a blessing. I pray that as I journey with my new LG, I’ll be able to reveal more of the who I am and why I care for the things I do.. and I ask of more of these among my leaders too.. in being a better connector by investing in the human touch more than just the doing. To speak like a human being, and not an institution, and to meet people at where they are, putting their feelings first over facts..
My who and why matters, and might possibly by faith, get the group to stay on the course for the long haul
Many times I struggle between being right and being in a relationship..
winning their hearts over to Christ is more important than winning the argument.. winning the facts, might actually cost u to lose them, which loses the whole point of winning their heart in believing what you believe in..
Perhaps by choosing to do the “right” later, and learn to wait, be slow to speak, and quick to listen, might actually be worth it when u get to do the “right” together with those you are reaching out to.
